Jayde I. Powell Joins Harvard Creator Advisory Board, Advancing a New Vision for Public Health Communication
Cambridge, MA — Social media strategist and creatorpreneur Jayde I. Powell has officially joined the creator advisory board at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, in collaboration with the Meharry School of Global Health, marking a significant step forward in her work at the intersection of digital storytelling and community impact.
The appointment to the advisory board places Jayde within a growing initiative designed to rethink how public health information is shared in the digital age. Today’s social platforms are increasingly becoming a primary source of information, expanding the role of creators and transforming them into some of the most influential voices shaping public understanding.
According to program insights, nearly one in two people now turn to social media for health-related information. That shift has positioned creators not just as content producers, but as critical connectors between institutions and the communities they aim to serve.
The Creator Program, launched in 2023, was built in response to that exact reality. Its mission is to equip creators with accurate, expert-led, and vetted health information, allowing them to show up for their audiences with clarity, credibility, and care. At the same time, the initiative challenges traditional public health models by prioritizing accessibility, ensuring that health and wellness information reaches people in ways that feel both relevant and trustworthy.
For Jayde, much of her personal work has consistently centered on mental health advocacy, personal branding, and sustainable creator growth, and this opportunity is a natural extension of her impact. As part of her role on the board, Jayde will host her first office hours session on April 29, offering creators in the Harvard T.H. Chan Creator Program a collaborative working space focused on personal branding. The session will include live examples, peer feedback, and actionable strategies for building credibility and income without losing authenticity.
Jayde’s involvement also reflects a broader cultural shift. Institutions such as Harvard are increasingly recognizing that effective communication, especially in public health, requires more than expertise. It requires trust, relatability, and cultural fluency. By bringing creators into the fold as strategic partners, programs such as this are working toward a future where health and wellness are not treated as privileges but as accessible resources for all.
