Grow, Engage, and Monetize: Jayde I. Powell Joins VidCon Panel to Discuss the LinkedIn Video Playbook

Jayde I. Powell and industry experts take the stage at VidCon to spread the LinkedIn gospel.

Anaheim, CA — At VidCon, social strategist Jayde I. Powell joined a forward-thinking panel discussion focused on LinkedIn’s platform rising influence in the world of online video. The audience’s enthusiasm filled the space to capacity, resulting in a standing-room-only event that many creatives were eager to engage in. As video content continues to dominate digital platforms, Jayde shared her knowledge with creators and consumers on how they can leverage the untapped goldmine to help build up their brand.

Once seen solely as a hub for resumes and employment opportunities, LinkedIn has evolved into a powerful space for storytelling, behind-the-scenes business insights, and career-minded content that resonates beyond the traditional 9-to-5 workday with which many of us are familiar. From brand deals to paid communities, “professional” influencers are on the rise, and that trend doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. Brands and creators are taking notice, and sponsorships are flooding the platform more than ever before.

The panel explored how creators, professionals, and brands are reimagining “professional content” and what it will look like in 2025. Much of the discussion centered around LinkedIn’s video tools, creator monetization, and how authenticity is shaping content trends on the platform.

Hosted by AJ Eckstein, Founder and CEO of Creator Match, Jayde and other speakers, including Conor Eliot, Head of Creator Partnerships at OpusClip, and Jessica Oliveira-Lee, Senior Community Manager at Linkedin, discussed the platform’s push for video content, how it enables deeper audience engagement, and what specific content they believe is the most impactful.

“There is so much opportunity for creators on LinkedIn, especially those who want to tap into short-form video. One of my successful posts was the campaign I did with OpusClip. I shared a video showcasing how I used the tool to cut down my long-form video content into short-form video clips for social media. That video had half a million impressions, which speaks to the value of creating content your community will find informative, helpful, and entertaining.”

As more creators turn to LinkedIn to build their personal brands and share their content, the platform is poised to play a significant role in the next wave of the creator economy. LinkedIn is enabling career and business-driven creators to break free from the confines of what is traditionally expected. Whether you’re an artist, educator, or strategist, LinkedIn video is opening doors to a new chapter in presenting yourself and your brand to others.

Teachable Takes Center Stage at VidCon with Jayde I. Powell and Featured Thought Leaders

Jayde I. Powell takes the stage with Teachable and other knowledge creators at VidCon in Anaheim, California.

Anaheim, CA — Last month, Anaheim played host to VidCon 2025, the premier gathering of platform pioneers, digital creators, and fans celebrating the culture and business of online content creation. Among the standout voices was social strategist and creatorpreneur Jayde I. Powell, who brought her insights to two impactful panels during the multi-day event.

A cornerstone of the digital landscape, VidCon brings together creators, brands, and their fans to exchange ideas, spark collaborations, and engage deeply in the evolving creator economy. This year’s event was particularly special as it marked YouTube’s 20th anniversary, honoring two decades of digital storytelling and innovation.

The speaker lineup featured a range of influential figures, including author and social activist Blair Imani, attorney and content creator Aaron Parnas, and Boston-based radio personality B Mo the Prince, among others.

Teachable’s panel, moderated by Olivia Owens, Head of Creator Partnerships, featured Jayde alongside Erin McGoff, content creator and founder of AdvicewithErin, and Jess Ramos, founder of Big Data Energy Analytics. Together, they explored how creators can leverage their knowledge and expertise to build thriving online communities and profitable businesses.

"I realized education could be a business model for me when I kept getting the same question: how? How did I land brand partnerships? How was I monetizing LinkedIn? The more I engaged with creators, the more I saw the demand for transparency—and the opportunity to teach others how I built my business."

The discussion offered a candid look into the highs and hurdles of being a modern-day creator. Panelists didn’t shy away from addressing the pressures of always being “on” and the critical need to take digital detoxes to sustain creativity and mental well-being.

At its core, the creator economy continues to thrive on shared knowledge, accessibility, and authenticity. Jayde’s presence at the event highlighted her ongoing influence in shaping conversations about creativity and authenticity in the creator economy.

Jayde Powell Celebrates Small Business Month with Mailchimp and QuickBooks

Jayde I. Powell teams up with Mailchimp and QuickBooks to surprise one of her favorite small businesses with $1000.

Brooklyn, NY — May is nationally recognized as Small Business Month—a time to uplift the entrepreneurs whose passion, resilience, and hard work fuel our communities. Small businesses are more than just local shops—they are economic engines, job creators, and cultural cornerstones. Every time we choose to support a small business, we’re investing in the identity and vibrancy of the neighborhoods we call home.

“As an entrepreneur, I’ve always been drawn to the intimacy and authenticity of small businesses. Whether it’s a cozy cafe, a neighborhood restaurant, or a boutique tea shop, these spaces often feel like safe havens. And when that business happens to be Black-owned, I’m even more inclined to show my support. It’s about community, culture, and connection.

That’s why I was honored to team up with Mailchimp and QuickBooks through their Small Business Hero program. As part of the initiative, I was given the opportunity to support a small business that I love. With $1,000 to give back, I knew exactly who I wanted to support: Hibiscus Brew, a Black-woman-owned cafe in Brooklyn.”

Hibiscus Brew is the brainchild of Allison Dunn, who bravely opened the cafe during the pandemic in the summer of 2020. For Allison, it was about more than just coffee or smoothies; it was about creating a space where inspiration and conversation could flourish, where nourishment was served not just for the body but also for the mind and spirit.

Deeply inspired by her Jamaican roots, Allison infused the essence of the Caribbean into every corner of Hibiscus Brew. From handcrafted tartine sandwiches to matcha and chai lattes, to their signature sorrel drinks and smoothies—the menu is a reflection of island culture, bold flavor, and vibrant wellness. It’s a place where the warmth of community is as present as the aroma of fresh hibiscus tea.

“What truly sets Hibiscus Brew apart, and why I chose to champion this business, is Allison’s unwavering commitment to bringing wellness to the community of Brooklyn. Not only does she support other local businesses, but they also source high-quality hibiscus flowers from ethical farmers, ensuring their impact is as sustainable as it is flavorful.

Being a Jamaican-American woman myself, putting the spotlight on Hisbiscus Brew felt important, knowing the significance and history of the hibsicus plant. Sorrel is an important part of Jamaican culture, so to support a Brooklyn-based, Black-woman-owned business that sells the drink gives me a great sense of pride.”

If you’re ever in Brooklyn, make a stop at Hibiscus Brew. You’ll find more than a great smoothie—you’ll find heart, history, and a whole lot of soul.

Jayde I. Powell takes the stage during Adweek’s annual Social Media Week conference, but this time as their Day 2 hostess.

New York, NY — Last week, social creative director and strategist Jayde I. Powell held the incredible honor of serving as a host and emcee of day 2 at Adweek Social Media Week 2025 in New York City. It was a true full-circle moment after appearing as a panelist at last year's event. This milestone was made even more meaningful, noting that this was the first year Adweek introduced dedicated hosts for each day of the three-day conference.

Attendees of this year's Social Media Week gathered to network and learn from some of the industry's most notable creatives and social media professionals, including comedian, actress, and writer Sabrina Brier, creator Evelyn Ha, and celebrity creator Jordan Howlett. A few of the session workshops from day two included “Leveraging Your ROI as an Influencer", “The Art of Partnership”, and “The Evolution of Sharing Your Progress on Social.” Adweek also brought together top marketing minds with speakers and executives from powerhouse brands, including Danielle Ito, Influencer Marketing Manager at Notion, Jen Mahajan, Brand Partnerships Lead at YouTube, Hassan Ali, Senior Director of Brand Creative and PR at Hootsuite, Bridget Evans, Global Head of Business Marketing at Spotify, Lucy Kemmitz, and Senior Director of Social Media at Marriott Bonvoy. The main stage also featured influential voices in the creator economy, including Kordell Beckham from the hit Peacock series Love Island, actor and host Kalen Allen, Brooklyn-based creator Miranda Sanchez, and more.

Jayde kicked off the morning by setting a positive tone with affirmations and kept the energy high throughout a full day of programming focused on the ever-evolving landscape of social media trends, content creation, and digital strategy. A few of the affirmations Jayde shared with the audience included:

  • “My worth is not tied to likes, comments, or shares.”

  • “My impact can be felt on social media and beyond.”

  • “I will celebrate my wins both big and small.”

There were numerous takeaways and insightful thoughts on how the overall playbook of social media has progressed and changed over the last several years, and it goes without saying that the brands doing their most impactful marketing are leading with social, first.

Hootsuite Teams Up With LinkedIn Influencers For Scroll-Stopping Social Media Help Desk Campaign

Hootsuite teams up with Jayde Powell for social media help desk themed LinkedIn influencer campaign.

LinkedIn might not be the first platform you think of to see creative, scroll-stopping influencer campaigns, but Jayde Powell is a creative out to change that narrative for the better. The social strategist and influential LinkedIn creator teamed up with Hootsuite to launch the Social Media Help Desk campaign, a playful, social-first campaign that leveraged social media professionals in the coolest way possible.

Hootsuite tasked influencers, including Brandon Smithwick, Jazmin Griffith, and Sophie Miller,  in the campaign to capture the essence of a social media help desk, featuring a bright-red, branded rotary phone and a custom desk nameplate. With inspiration and props provided by the social media management platform company, Jayde and her photographer, Diandra Thompson, came together to produce a photoshoot that both Jayde and Hootsuite’s audience would remember on social media and beyond.

Jayde leveraged her skill set as a creative director, as evident in her previous work for notable brands such as Timberland and Pfizer, to bring to life a photoshoot that combined Hootsuite’s vision and Jayde’s flair for the dramatic.

“When Hootsuite approached me with the concept, I knew I wanted to take it a step further and bring the drama,” Jayde says. “My goal as a creator partner is always to stand out on the feed, so I try to lean into the unexpected. Incorporating elements like a faux red fur or an old school office environment is not what we typically see on LinkedIn, so I knew I had to run with it.”

The campaign invited marketers to submit their questions directly in her LinkedIn comments, where she provided free tips and tricks on social media performance, customer connection, and crafting effective content on social media. Jayde’s campaign led to over 18,000 impressions on LinkedIn and also gained her not one, but two features in AdAge where her fresh approach to B2B influencer marketing was praised.

“LinkedIn is changing, and we have to be more intentional about how we show up. It’s not enough to post about a product and hope people engage. We need to spark something—something so real it demands a response.”

Jayde’s lead on the creative direction for the campaign, along with her knowledge of social media marketing, helped present strategic social content that paid off and helped showcase why platforms such as LinkedIn can be a high-yielding ground for sponsored content when you know how to tap into your creativity.

Social Media Leaders Gather in Orlando for Ragan Communications & PR Daily’s Annual Conference

Jayde I. Powell takes the stage with social media executives from John Deere, Grammarly, and LinkedIn at Ragan Communications and PR Daily’s social media conference in Orlando.

Orlando, FL — Over 400 social media professionals from across the country came together in late March for Ragan Communications & PR Daily’s two-day social media conference. The event offered an effective mix of thoughtful leadership, deep dives on best practice social media strategies, and real conversations about the future of social media marketing.

Bringing her humor and warmth to the stage, the conference was hosted and emceed by social media strategist and creatorpreneur Jayde I. Powell, who led attendees through two packed days of programming. Jayde kicked off the event by sharing some affirmations for creative hotties and introducing several prominent keynote speakers, such as Victoria Lozano, executive vice president of brand marketing at Crayola, and Eder Reynoso, former social media manager of Sesame Workshop.

One of the standout moments throughout the weekend’s events was the keynote panel, ‘How We Got Here: Finding Your Seat in the Social Media C-suite”, ' which Jayde moderated. Panelists for the discussion included Adu Adu of Grammarly, Santi Pochat from LinkedIn, and Meghan Anhalt of the brand John Deere, who shared thoughtful insights on navigating career paths in a rapidly changing digital landscape.

In addition to the keynote panel, jayde hosted a live episode of #CreatorTeaTalk with Nicole Phillip, content creator and fellow social media professional. During the session, “The Tea On DE&I in Social Media” sparked candid dialogue about how the rollback of DE&I has impacted the social media industry, highlighting both progress made and challenges that steadily remain. Jayde and Nicole broke down the real impact of these rollbacks, the risks brands take when deprioritizing DEI, and how social media professionals can continue pushing for diverse representation and ensure that inclusivity remains a core part of their work. The discussion posed some great questions from Jayde: "How can brands and platforms do a better job of ensuring black creators receive proper recognition—and, just as importantly, compensation—for the trends they start?”

From personal stories to professional growth, the conference brought together a community of like-minded peers that will shape the future of social media for years to come.

Las Vegas, NV — Jayde I.
